car audio? suggestions?

Rosie Travino: There are many things to take into consideration when building your "ideal" car stereo system. What do you want your stereo to do, shake the neighbor's house, or just go really loud and sound great while doing it?Regardless of your answer to that question, the base for your entire stereo setup is your head unit. I highly recommend getting an Alpine head unit. They have a proprietary iPod control system that makes navigating albums and playlists much easier and faster than any other manufacturer. The CDA-9886 would probably be your best bet.As far as interior speakers go, there are several quality manufacturers out there. I personally like Pioneer, they have a very very high efficiency (they run louder with lower power), and great sound quality.Subwoofers are where the big question really comes into play. Go with a quality manufacturer, and make sure that the box you get matches the recommended enclosure size as closely as possible. I can't really answer you! r question in this area, as I do not know what you're looking for out of your stereo. One thing to keep in mind when selecting your sub / amp combination is the subwoofer's RMS (the amount of power that it can handle continuously) at what Ohm, and at what Ohm the amp can run in a stable mode.Last (but definitely not least) you need good quality wiring to hook up the amp. Do a little research on the internet, read reviews, and overall educate yourself on the subject before you buy....Show more

Lorelei Lilburn: theres so much out there, its just incredibly over whelming, i just want it to get really loud, sound good and have alot alot alot alot of bass, not overly expensive either.

Mahalia Brindle: In car audio, you get what you pay for. If you buy a crappy Boss stereo instead of an Alpine or Pioneer stereo, you'll probably be sending the Boss stereo in for warranty issues. Audio, Boston Acoustics, Pioneer.Speaker: Top 5: Focal, Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, Infinity, Alpine.Honorable Mentions: Boston Acoustics, Kenwood, Hifonics, Polk Audio, JL.Subwoofer: Top 5: Fi, Alpine, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer Premier.Honorable Mentions: Hifonics, Infinity, Kenwood, Pioneer (Basic Pioneer).OEM Processors: Rockford Fosgate 360.2 ProcessorOn a Budget: Hifonics Processors.Wire: Kicker and Rockford Fosgate. Also, stick with name brand companies that follow the AWG system.Head Unit: Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood. The only place I recommend to buy any of these products are Crutchfield.com and the actual company's homepage that makes the products so you can get your warranty with the product. When you upgrade anything in your system, it's best to upgrade everything, because every component will compliment each other to make the best sounding system.Good luck!...Show more
