Boyce Gilhooly: I work in Kansas City. The past few years the state has put a lot of pressure on districts to adhere to IDEA above and beyond. Its like they are trying to stay above and beyond the feds and keep adding new paperwork! Most of the larger districts have had to deal with audits from the state to check that we are 100% compliant, no small task. The type of services students recieve varies on the area of the state. The one major plus for KS SPED is that the Univeristy of Kansas department of SPED is on of the top ranked in the country... most area districts benefit from this with grants, programs, etc....Show more

Let them know you are interested in the school district which contains the Harrington area. Once you have the district information, you can conta! ct the district office and inquire about the department that handles Students with Disabilities. Then you can ask specific questions of the Director of the programs.
