Using HD Tv and DVR with direct tv?

Perry Deshazior: There is no way to connect an external HD-DVR to DirecTV to record HD signals. You must use one of their supported DVRs. This is becuase there is no reasonably-priced device that can take an HD signal and process/record it in real-time. If you hate the idea of purchasing a box, you could switch to cable and lease the HD-DVR from your cable company. Often if you have been a DirecTV customer and complain, they will give you the box for free. Threaten to leave for cable and they will transfer you to a "customer retention specialist" and their job is to give you some sort of deal to make you stay. Tell them you want a free $299.00 box and they'll work something out if they can (and if your expectations are reasonable)....Show more

Dewey Heersink: Dish. they have a series fee, and that i replaced into waiting to negotiate a month-to-month settlement quite of a protracted term dedication. they have a ton of HD channels, and good service and pricing.! DirectTV does now no longer do a month-to-month, required a 2-3 hundred and sixty 5 days settlement, and doubled their expenses after the merchandising era.
