Debora Rinderer: Hello! I am a sophmore! I have been home-schooled since the 4th grade! Well if your dad isn't home but 2 days a week it's not being homeschooled Persay...It's more like you teaching yourself...personally I kinda need to know what state you live in to give you the laws on that...My state says that the parent must be present 95.9985% of the time in order for it to be a legal homeschool!
Coleen Carignan: If you mean you're going to be teaching yourself, not going to an online school like K12 or Connections Academy, then your parent has to be qualified to teach you. I'd recommend going to an online school because it gives you a better education than homeschooling yourself. Personally, I like going to an online school because it gives me a more flexible schedule and you can get your work done a lot faster. I get my social interaction through sports and other organizations and I generally have more free time during the day because I can do my schoolwork i! n the evenings if I want to. Of course, I can't say whether you'll like it or not. People that have gone to public school their whole lives don't always seem to like it, but I couldn't say for sure since I've never gone to public school. -shrug-...Show more
Clifford Riggleman: Hey there, You could definitely do homeschooling. I recommend that you get into a good, accredited online school like Laurel Springs, K12, or National Keystone school. You'll get a homeroom teacher who'll your main teacher and you don't need a parent to teach u everything. You basically learn by yourself, and ask for help to your dad or teacher. The teachers are very supportive so don't hesitate to ask them anything. You should also do some good research of what schools you feel is for you. I attached a link of online accredited schools and there smart ratings. I actually think you should get into Laurel Springs school as they have a social online network for you to contact school friends, on! line clubs, and many more! And also, I think you should get in! to a school for teens, NOT teens and adults. http://online-high-school.findthebest.com/...Show more
Elli Esaw: Independent homeschooling is legal in every state, however each has different requirement. You need to find out what the homeschooling laws are in your state. While some states require your parent to have graduated high school or gotten their GED, no state requires a parent to be a certified teacher in order to be "qualified" to do home schooling. Parents can order the teacher guides and answer keys to help with subjects they don't understand. The great thing about homeschooling is having a flexible schedule. You aren't restricted to doing school during normal school hours as long as you follow your state laws if they have any about the number of hours you need to spend studying each day. You can go at your own pace. If you need more or less time on something, you can. You aren't restricted to the speed of a large class.Online schools (like K12, Connectio! ns Academy) aren't traditional homeschoooling. They are home correspondence programs. You are considered enrolled in the sponsoring school/program and would do similar work using similar curriculum as the sponsoring school (either public or private). You have very little control over what you study other than picking your classes....Show more
