Wilbur Marksberry: I actually think we're more aware than ever about mental health issues - it's the awareness that can cause us to feel scared that we may develop one. Some mental illnesses can cause behaviours that appear frightening - talking to oneself, perhaps, or abnormal movements - which can make us want to avoid the person just when s/he needs attention.Unfortunately, I feel there is still a stigma attached to mental illness, despite the increased information we have at our disposal on this subject, meaning that many people still feel ashamed of developing one and may avoid going for treatment.I do agree with you though - we need to make ourselves even more aware of this unfortunate issue, and change our opinions on people who develop such illnesses....Show more
Virgilio Echter: I agree with you 100%.Mental illnesses can be just as deadly as cancer, and 1 in 4 people have one, just like cancer. (Probably more though on both counts)
Clemente Schoeck: Y! es, mental health is highly overlooked. Most prisoners suffer from mental health, yet they are not given any kind of mental health evaluation and/or guidance. At the work place they allow physical sickness to keep you home from work but calling in sick because of anxiety would be frowned upon.Look at all the overstressed out students and disgruntled workers who open fire - killing anyone in their path, in interviewing fellow workers or students everyone will describe the person as someone with personality problems, yet nobody acknowledges it until they have killed innocent people. In the schools the teachers should recognize any disorders bothering their students as well as, and especially, their own families. Anytime someone is given the advice to seek counseling or psychiatrists it is considered an insult instead the great advice that it is. I believe schools should offer emotional awareness classes as a health class....Show more
Manie Labat: The only good psycholo! gist is one that keeps quiet. psychiatry uses medical manuals ! for biological psychological disorders with no scientific basis for illnesses. It's being done for money. Medical manuals like Eugenics movement and the bell curve, which is the same psychiatry system that tried to prove black people are inferior. 40% of psychiatrists joined the Reich in WW2 because their beliefs were the same. 1.1 million people have died in psychiatric hospitals. No cure for these illnesses, just infinite drugs, psyche cannot be understood but psychiatrists call themselves health professionals. Pseudoscience is psychiatry and psychology....Show more
