Psychiatrists on Dental Phobia?

Coleman Coscia: Dental phobia is really, really common. As far as giving you a link to a psychiatrist, I can't help you. For how you can overcome dental phobia, however, I have some suggestions. It depends on what type of dental phobia you have. If you are okay getting into the office but not okay with treatment, the dentist can "put you out" for the procedure so you basically just take a nap. If you don't even want to get to the office, that's common too. They can prescribe you something that will make you loopy (I call it the happy pill) and extremely calm. That gives the dentist the opportunity to work on you. Obviously you won't be driving yourself to the office, so you will need a driver to come with you. ...Show more
